Jessica Lynn Sours

Jessica L. Sours is a professional artist and fine art photographer.  She has a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Art Management, and a Certification in Professional Photography.  Jessica is inspired by the ever changing vistas of Upstate New York, in particular the Finger Lakes region, with its numerous waterfalls, gorges, lakes, vineyards and mountains, which attracts visitors from all over the world and has piqued Jessica's passion.   Initially taking photos of her hikes for her personal pleasure, she now enjoys sharing her work with others.

She has sold over twenty individual pieces to the new Guthrie Corning Hospital.  These soothing works of art decorate the walls of the wards, where Jessica hopes they will comfort and inspire both the patients and staff.

Hello everyone,

When either photographing nature’s beauty or creating unique artwork from scratch, the most enjoyable aspect for me is making sure that the work provokes intrigue and emotion.  A piece of art on the wall is a moment frozen in time, wrought with drama, suspense, surprise, enjoyment, intensity, and passion.  One work of art can cause different emotions depending on its viewer, and in my opinion, the relationship between the piece itself and the emotion an image provokes or the thoughts it conjures from its audience, is the most interesting aspect of my work as an artist.  I want my work to be uplifting, enjoyable to its viewers, and inspiring. 

Whether Acrylic, Charcoal, mixed media or photography, I want someone viewing my art to be contented in the moment and delighted by the image presented as it reminds and encourages.  Finding details in the parts of life that some may overlook and sharing those details with others is something I enjoy.
